Leidos’ Defense Systems Mission Assurance is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector to join our Space Systems team in Huntsville, AL.  Primary responsibilities will be with the Laser Air Monitoring System (LAMS) program which is a critical life support system that monitors the quality of the cabin atmosphere on-board NASA’s Orion spacecraft.  Other responsibilities will include providing quality support to other human spaceflight and missile defense satellite programs.  You will play an important role in ensuring spaceflight hardware meets all requirements.

  • Primary Responsibilities.
  • _Perform quality inspections to verify that optical components, mechanical assemblies, electrical cables, and integrated hardware and testing activities meet specified drawing/specification requirements._
  • _Work with engineering and production team members in an interactive and collaborative environment._
  • _Work in fast-paced development and production clean room environment with minimal supervision._
  • _Ensure nonconformances are properly documented and coordinate final dispositions with engineering._
  • _Other duties may include performing receiving inspection, logging shelf-life material, performing First Article Inspections, compiling End Item Data Packages, and measuring parts using standard measuring equipment._
  • Basic Qualifications.
  • Candidate must possess a High School diploma or GED and 2-4 years of prior relevant work experience performing quality inspections or assembly, integration, or testing of high-performance systems (e.g. aircraft, launch vehicles, spacecraft, or submarines).
  • Must be knowledgeable of standard inspection and measurement equipment, i.e. micrometers, calipers, multimeters, magnification, black light inspections, etc.
  • Must be able to interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing requirements.
  • Must be able to witness test procedures and generate test/inspection reports.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, assembly schematics, design models, and specifications and prepare hand-written or computer-generated inspection reports.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows & Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Position requires candidate to be capable of performing in a collective environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams & sub-tier partners.
  • Must be able to pass an eye exam for visual inspection.
  • Candidate must be a resident of, or willing to relocate to, the Huntsville, AL area.
  • Preferred Qualifications.
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with spaceflight hardware (e.g. optics, satellite hardware, electronics, cleanrooms)
  • Certified Quality Inspector
  • Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAI) I.A.W. AS9102
  • Knowledge and/or experience working within an AS9100 company

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00
