The Networks and Telecommunication Services (NaTS) Service Line is seeking to fill an Information Technology Specialist position. Serves as a senior specialist under the Integrated Network and Infrastructure Office and is responsible for planning, development, installation, operations, and maintenance in support of communications systems and facilities.
Major Duties
Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.,Applies detailed knowledge of NASA’s Enterprise Network architecture, transport systems, and interface requirements to support reliable, secure, and efficient communications services for NASA.,Supports the development, integration, and implementation of unique or leading-edge network engineering technologies and solutions to meet evolving mission and operational requirements.,Evaluates the accuracy of network system documentation, topology records, and configuration management data, and recommends improvements associated with NASA’s Enterprise Network infrastructure and services.,Prepares technical requirements, specifications, and engineering documentation for complex and high-value projects involving network infrastructure, communications equipment, and systems supporting NASA missions.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise network infrastructures using technologies such as Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, Palo Alto Networks, etc. under minimal supervision. Knowledge with technical protocols associated with enterprise networking; Experience providing technical oversight and contractor performance assessment measurement for enterprise network infrastructure services, ensuring compliance with operational requirements and service level agreements. Skilled in performing contractor performance evaluations, reviewing network designs and deliverables; Experience executing network engineering projects from design through end to end implementation. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level. Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise network infrastructures using technologies such as Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, Palo Alto Networks, etc. in an independent nature. Expertise with technical protocols associated with enterprise networking; Experience providing technical oversight and contractor performance assessment measurement for enterprise network infrastructure services, ensuring compliance with operational requirements and service level agreements. Skilled in performing contractor performance evaluations, reviewing network designs and deliverables; Experience leading network engineering projects from design through end to end implementation. AND IF you are qualifying based on experience, you MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
