As a Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing (SAP) Technical Subject Matter Expert, you will be responsible for SAP technical design and configuration, ensuring compliant financial processes, audit readiness, and system integrity. You will oversee Advanced Business Application Programing (ABAP) development, manage year-end processing, and guide cross-functional teams through full lifecycle delivery as we move to the SAP S/4 High Performance Analytic Appliance (HANA) environment.
Major Duties
Lead the configuration/optimization of SAP ECC and SAP S/4 HANA software, focusing on Funds Management (FM) and Financial Accounting (FI) modules, including the Universal Journal, derivation rules, budget control logic, and cross-module integration.,Serve as the agency’s SAP technical subject matter expert to perform in-depth system research, resolve complex issues, and support audit readiness.,Oversee and guide SAP ABAP development teams, providing direction on technical design, performance optimization, and adherence to SAP development best practices and agency development standards.,Lead SAP technical activities in execution of fiscal year-end processing for the agency.,Lead integrated project teams through the full SAP lifecycle, including requirements gathering, process mapping, functional design, technical design and contractor oversight.,Interpret and apply federal financial regulatory and external reporting requirements to SAP system design, ensuring compliance and alignment with agency business processes.,Review and validate functional and technical specifications, ensuring that development items (e.g., reports, enhancements, interfaces) meet business needs and adhere to SAP and federal standards.,Collaborate with cross-agency stakeholders, representing the agency’s system design and constraints in inter-agency working groups and federal SAP governance forums.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. You may meet the basic requirements through substitution of education for experience To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level. Configuring and optimizing Funds Management (FM) and Financial Accounting (FI) in SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA, with command of the Universal Journal; Leading audit readiness by embedding financial regulatory and external reporting requirements in SAP FM/FI configuration, controls, and reporting; Performing SAP/ABAP development activities from design through delivery of solutions in adherence with development standards (ie, enforcing clean optimized development solutions (CDS views, Fiori), drive performance tuning, and code reviews). AND IF you are qualifying based on experience, you MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
